Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 10.05

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Please extend our wishes to all the Mothers on Mother’s Day, thank you!

Well the weather looks good, I think we will definitely get a start for our Championships on Tuesday.  On Tuesday 12th May is the 1st Round of the Men’s Vets Club Championships, that makes it a Single Stroke event, also is the Bi-Monthly Medal, sponsored by Wauchope Country Club, Putting Competition sponsored by Al Muller and Bill Wagner and Ecclectic Rd 4, sponsored by Dennis Hughes and John Uncle. Good Luck to all players in the Championships. Remember there are conditions for entry to the Championships which is, to be eligible you must have competed in at least 12 Tuesday competitions in the 12 months preceding the Championships. Members who are not eligible may compete in the daily event. I will post all the scores of the 1st Round on our Blog site http://wauchopemensvets.blogspot.com.au/   by Wednesday morning.

There are 5 spots available on the booking sheet.

If we encounter events like last Tuesday, where carts are not allowed on the course, the consequence to that is a lot of gaps in the field, meaning the field could possibly have completed hit-off a ½ hour earlier. Without compressing the field ourselves, could I ask you to turn up about ½ hour earlier, Iam sure you will get a start quicker than your “Hit off time”. The alternative to this is we compress the field and notify you which we really don’t want to do. When there is only 65 players as there were last Tuesday the field could have all hit-off before 9:00am.

The visit to Wingham to contest the 1st leg of “Neil Grant Memorial Shield” is on Wednesday 10th June. We intend taking a 22 seater bus down to Wingham. It is a Single Stableford,  8:15am Shotgun start, It would be $25 cost per player, includes a game of golf, raffle ticket and a roast lunch ( meal normally $12, but the Wingham treasurer has kindly offered all players a $3 subsidy; now costing each player just $9 ea. for lunch ).

“Our roast lunches have always been popular with visiting players in the past. It also makes for a more social day with all players eating together, while comp. results are completed”. The bus trip is now costing $10 per person, leaving from Lighthouse Beach Shopping Centre, Donut etc. The sheet will be available Tuesday on the front table. To book carts etc, please ring Wingham Golf Club.

On Tuesday the ballot regarding Ball distribution will be finalised. All players will be given a proxy voting form with your score card, would you vote and place in the sealed box, please. If you have already voted through email, please do not vote again as I have records of all votes so far.

Thursday 7th May, 9 Hole Single Stableford Results, 45 players
