Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 26.04

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 28th April the event is a Single Stableford, the sponsor is  Hastings Meats (Fredo’s).  Looking at the time sheet, shows there are  9 spots available, get in early if you are looking for a game. This will be the last Vets hit out before the Championships. Tuesday 5th May, is the 1st Round of the Veteran Men’s Club Championship.

I have just completed an exercise to determine our Handicap Grades are correct.  A Grade ( 0-17) there are 84 players,  B Grade (18 -24) there are 89 players, C Grade (25-36) there are 88 players, which means we are as even as possible. These grades will continue.

There is a motion (attached) to be put to the members on  Tuesday 5th May to bring the Ball Rundown back into grades. This will mean each grade will be a mini competition in itself and the grade players will fund the balls in that grade. For example if there are 20 players in one grade and 40 in another grade, expect the  grade with 40 players to

Receive approx.. twice as many balls. I think this is a fairer method of distributing balls in the Vets competitions. We are here as a group to promote and encourage older males to play golf. As age catches up with us, our handicaps creep out and for some it becomes a thrill to win a ball. While there is a place for distributing balls across the field in Club competitions, I know distributing balls in grades is much fairer in Vets Competitions.

Tuesday 5th May , the motion will be put and a vote taken, this will happen prior to the presentation. Proxy voting slips will be offered to all players as they collect their cards from the Pro Shop, this is to allow early players to vote without coming back to the Club. I would ask those players after they have voted to place the vote  in a sealed box on the front table at the Club.

I have an email from Darwin Vets, who are hosting this year’s AVG National Championships. It reads  " Just a reminder to everyone that nominations for the AVGU National Championships in Darwin close on 31 May 2015.

If you have not already lodged your entry form it is advisable to do so soon. Entry will be on a first-come-first served basis and accommodation will still be at a premium.

If anyone is having trouble with accommodation they can contact either John Baylis, Tournament Director, Alan Grove or Joe Smith for assistance. Contact details are on the NT website. (ntvga.com.au)."

John Plummer from Mid Nth. Coast Vets informs me the next game at Bonville is  Tuesday 9th June. You can contact John,    johnplummer1@bigpond.com
