Wauchope Men's Vets Weekly Update 17.08

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Tuesday 19th August is a Single V’s Par event, sponsored by Hastings Mower Service. The sponsors like to be at the presentation, so it would be fitting there is a good representation. Looking at the timesheet for Tuesday, there are 12 vacancies, if you want a game, there are spaces available.

Port Macquarie BMS/ BMS

Thank you for the number of players who participated in the Bill Medley Shield at Port Macquarie on Monday 11/08. We performed ok on the day, but Port Macquarie skipped away to a 29 point lead over us. The scores as they stand are Port Macquarie 1166, Wauchope 1137, Kew 1120, SWR 1104, Kempsey 1089, Freddo 1085, Cres. Head 739. It would be expected the home team to do well on their course. All it means is Wauchope need to field a strong team at the final  two outings for the season, Frederickton on Wednesday 17th September (that is a change of date) and South West Rocks on Friday 24th October (that is also a change of date). Frederickton nomination sheet is either on the board or on the front table, nominations close 5th September.

Remember when you play Bill Medley Shield it is always a 300mm preferred lie on the fairway, regardless of what the local rules are on the day(unless of course it is tee-up). Green Fees are fixed at $15, but when clubs provide a meal in is added to that amount.

Wauchope players who performed well at Port on Monday were Ian Bain who was runner-up in A grade with 37 points on a countback from John Uncle with 37 points, in C grade Fred Ertl won with 34 points from Doug Connell with 32 points, ball rundown to 30 points. It was hard going out there with the wind blowing as hard as it was.

Kew Wal Sneddon
Thank you also to the response for players to compete in the Wal Sneddon Shield at Kew on Monday 25th August, we have 32 players nominated. I will have the hit off times on Tuesday, but will also email them to those players with email addresses.

Week of Golf
We are still looking for players and volunteers for the WOG. It is a great competition played on 4th and 5th September, you can play one or both days, morning or afternoon shotgun starts, Presentation Dinner on Friday night 5th. See John Uncle if you would like to enter or Peter Abel for volunteering or if you would like to purchase a raffle ticket from him.
