Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 05.07

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 7th July is 3 Clubs + Putter Single Stableford sponsored by the Alex Robinson Estate. David Robinson represents the family of the estate and is now a member of the Wauchope Vets. Thank you, David. There are quite a number of spots available for Tuesday’s game. After a good field of 142 players last Tuesday (last day of W.C.C. membership year) it looks as though we have slumped to about 112 players at present. If it is winter you are worrying about, after about 9:30 it is usually beautiful. “Come on put your name down”

The 3 Clubs + putter is exactly that, it must be 3 clubs, not 4 clubs all up.

Congratulations to Doug Currey and Ken Bennett on winning the Hastings Fresh Meats 4BBB Stableford Championship last Tuesday. The top 4 teams were only separated by 2 points. Doug and Ken  had 49 points, runners-up were Fred Ertl and Rob Cannon with 48 points c/b from Warren Leece and Bill Dixon with 48 points and fourth Peter Maher and Russell Harris with 47 points. Congratulations to the champions, this event will be on the calendar each year. Another highlight of the day was Bob Maggs having a “Hole in One” on the 4th Hole, congratulations Bob, a Hole in One trophy is coming your way.

A few members didn’t renew their WCC membership last week for a variety of reasons, I would like to thank those ex members for their contributions and attendances to our events. We are sorry not to be able to see your faces each week, but I remind you, you are always welcome to come back.

On Tuesday  when booking in for the 21st July you will see it is an 8:30am shotgun start, a lot of players will be booked in already they are the 23 Wingham Vets, who are travelling up to contest the Neil Grant Memorial Shield. I ask that members in carts please book in to those Tees furthest away, so the walkers don’t have far to trudge. The same message will go out next week when we are hosting Harrington Vets on 28th July, for the Harri-Hope Shield.

There are 2 nomination sheets on the front table on Tuesday, one is for the Bill Medley Shield at Kempsey on Friday 24th July. At present I have 15 names down for this event, I would like about 24, there are carts available, if you want one email me. It is important we keep the pressure on the other clubs for the Shield. The info for the day is 9:00am shotgun start, cost is $15, BBQ lunch is offered (not included in $15). I played last year and was impressed with the condition of the course, there is no reason why that will have changed. The nominations for this event close on 10th July so it is important to place your nomination this week.

The other nomination sheet is for our visit to Forster Tuncurry Vets on Monday 3rd August.
