Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 26.10

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 28th October the event is “Best 2 of 4 Stableford”, at present there are 8 spaces available, get in there if you want a game.

The final of the Bill Medley Shield was held at South West Rocks on Friday 24th October, although Wauchope did very well being runner-up to Port Macquarie, it was still a very commendable effort from all the players throughout the year that played and represented the Club. Congratulations to the Port Vets! Thank you, Dennis Hughes for stepping in and becoming the Selector and mentor for the team. He did such a good job, I will ask him to do the same next year. I will give everybody very early information on the Bill Medley Shield games next year, we need at least 20 to 30 players to choose from to make Wauchope competitive. Port won it for the first time in 15 years, so there is no reason Wauchope cannot win it next year. The final points results, Port Macquarie 1620 points, Wauchope 1598 points, South West Rocks 1574 points, Kew 1552 points, Frederickton 1552 points, Kempsey 1471 points.

Wauchope players who excelled at South West Rocks were Fred Ertl with 40 points,(he won the day) congratulations, Scott Mackenzie run 4th with 37 points, Jim Thompson 36 points and Bruce Amey 35 points. Fred’s bag fell off the back of the cart and broke the shaft of his driver, he was able to get a replacement and have 40 points. The course was set long and pin positions in very difficult spots.

Iam attaching a proposal for change to the way we treat our membership renewals etc. I have a copy which is proposed by me and seconded by Allan Lynch, it was distributed at the presentation last week and hereby give notice a vote on the proposal will be conducted on Hams Day 9th December thus giving the mandatory 7 days notice . It is self explanatory, but if you have any questions, please email me or see me on Tuesday,

Membership Management Plan Wauchope Men's Veterans Golf Club
The present 5 year Membership plan is difficult to manage when members either cease playing golf, move to another club or move out of the district.

Under the present system a member is still technically a financial member of the WMVGC for the period of the 5 years remaining, but unless he is a Member of the Wauchope Golf Club, he is not eligible to play golf in any WMVGC event.

There are no Membership Cards issued as proof of membership, particularly for those members
who travel and enjoy playing with Veteran Organisations around Australia.
My proposal is to commence 12 monthly memberships for new members and as existing member’s membership becomes due for renewal.

Each member will be issued with Membership Card stating name, Golf link number and expiry date.

The new plan will commence from 1st January 2015.

New members will pay a $5.00 membership fee which will be due for renewal prior to 30.06.15 to coincide with membership renewal to Wauchope Golf Club.

Existing members will renew membership prior to June 30 each year and be issued with a WMVGC Membership Card after producing their renewed Wauchope Golf Club Membership Card.

Members with credit under the current 5 year membership system will be issued with a WMVGC Membership Card after producing their renewed Wauchope Golf Club Membership Card until all credits have been used.

Associate Members will be issued with WMVGC cards each year after producing proof of membership of Wauchope Golf Club.

Members who have not renewed membership by June 30 each year are ineligible to play and/or receive any prizes including Beer Draw etc.

While this plan will marginally increase membership fees, it is timely, with a need to have the discussion.

The WMVGC pays $4 per member affiliation fees to Zone 12 which includes affiliation fees to NSWVGA.

Instead of paying $20 for 5 years membership, the cost would be $5 per year, an increase of $1 per year.
