Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers
Next Tuesday 10th March, is a Single Stableford
event, sponsored by Hastings Funeral Services. Looking at the timesheet there
are 4 vacancies on the booking sheet. If you want a game get in quick.
The course has recovered remarkably since the wet weather we had a couple of
weeks ago, thank you to the Greenstaff for doing such a good job.
Coming up, on Friday 20th March, Wauchope Vets
are hosting Forster Tuncurry Vets. The reason, we are conducting this game on a
Friday is to cause as little interference as possible to our Tuesday game. Forster/Tuncurry
are travelling up by bus and we can expect 30-40 players. Because of some
confusion (not with the Vets) they have asked us if we could hit-off about
8:30am. At this moment there is only 25 Wauchope members on the Timesheet. I
would like to see another 25-30 players from Wauchope. This game was organised
prior to the recent price increase to competition fees, so it is only $16. If
we get the numbers it will be 3 grades, nearest the pins etc.
THE TIMESHEET IS NOW OPEN ON THE COMPUTER, Rally your
mates.
Last Friday at the Bill Medley Shield at Kew, 25 Wauchope
Vets travelled down and played. Thank you for your attendance, there were a few
new faces (who don’t normally travel) played. While the weather was great, the
general course great, the greens have a problem at this time. As far as the
Bill Medley Team is concerned, we performed very well. Dennis really had the
right formula working. Wauchope are now running second, behind Frederickton.
Here are the Results, Frederickton scored 219 points for total of 472 points,
Wauchope scored 228 for total of 451 points, Kew scored 235 points for total
of 448 points, Port Macquarie scored 216 for total of 446 points,
S.W.Rocks scored 203 points for total of 439 points, Crescent Head scored 183
points for total total of 406 points, Kempsey scored 170 points for total of
374 points. Individuals who scored well were Kerry Galloway, John Hill, Quenton
Henry, Norm Marchant, John Jokantas, Dennis Hughes and Bob Maggs all won balls,
Rob Cannon won nearest the pin on the 9th Hole and received 2 Balls
It is our turn to host the next round of the Bill Medley it
is on Friday 17th April and is an 8:30am Shotgun start, fees are $15
for this game as it is for all Bill Medley Shield games. You are welcome to
play on this day, the team of 10 will be selected from those names on the entry
sheet, please join in, you could be the one which makes the BIG difference. The
entry sheet will be available from Tuesday until it closes on 7th
April. It is a good team competition atmosphere, if you are in the team or not.
These next two games are part of the Travellers Trophy
2015, where we have nominated 13 games which are either games away from
Wauchope or Friday games at Wauchope, you would need to play 9 of the 13 games,
then the best average over those 9 games wins $60 voucher, runner-up $40
voucher. Just as a bit of incentive to play these games. (attached is the
running result sheet)
The fixture Books should be ready on Tuesday for $2 each
from the front table.
Competition fees have increased to $20, which I believe will
start with the Vets on Tuesday. This is a Board decision not a Vets Committee
decision.
Thank you to those members who attended Michael Grant’s
Funeral on Wednesday, it was a fitting farewell.
I think that is about it for this week.
Good Golfing
Ross
