Wauchope Vets No Carts Tomorrow 24.03

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

I have just had a call to say the course is too wet to allow carts on tomorrow 24/3. It seems Wauchope copped a drenching with the creek across the 18th still up and the waterholes along 17th were one. So it is common sense to not allow carts on the course.

I would ask members to take their names off the time sheets if they are not able to play. This will allow the field to be condensed, as there will only be about 80 players, I expect.

If those who were hitting off in the later times would come about 30 minutes earlier than usual, it would allow a much better cross over and everybody may get home earlier.

Also if you know players who normally ride in a cart, but do not receive the emails, give them a ring and tell them, please.

Regards
Ross

Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 22.03

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers
*Please see notice regarding Crocs at bottom of page.

Next Tuesday 24th March is a Single Stableford event, sponsored by Bago Tavern. There seems to be plenty of spots available if you are looking for a game. The course is in great condition, don’t miss the opportunity.

A couple of very important messages. Following is a note handed out last Tuesday.“The Board of Directors of the Country Club are holding a Question and Answer session in the Auditorium on Tuesday 24th March 2015 at 6:00pm in order to address some topics which presently appear to have varying opinions. Should you have any relevant questions regarding the operations of the Wauchope Country Club or its present financial status and what steps our Board of Directors and Management are taking to improve your club, then you are encouraged to attend this gathering. We look forward to seeing you there and hope that you leave with a much clearer understanding of our efforts, Signed by Bob Weston on behalf of the Wauchope Country Club Board of Directors.”
Please attend if you possibly can.

If you know anybody who is thinking of joining Wauchope Golf Club, there is a deal at present, $50 for new members  to 30th June 2015, this is a good deal and the introduction may get them stuck on golf and we have a new Member.

Forster/Tuncurry Vets visited Wauchope on Friday 20th March. Unfortunately they had some bus problems on the way up and arrived a little late, as soon as they got here we gave them a cup of Coffee and got them out on the course. It was a friendly visit, meaning we were not playing for any shield etc. The day was very hot, it was pleasure to reach the Clubhouse for the Air Con, cold beverage and a feed. One of their guys top scored for the day with 45 points (not a bad score!). Our return visit to Forster/Tuncurry is on Monday 3rd August, we will be organising a Bus. Result sheet is attached.

The nomination sheet for the  Bill Medley Shield game at Wauchope on Friday 17th April 8:30am Shotgun start, has at this stage about 19 starters. If you are interested in playing, the sheet is on the Vets Noticeboard, but on the front table on Tuesday. For those who are not familiar with this day, there will be players from the clubs in our zone, that is SW.Rocks, Frederickton, Kempsey, Crescent Head, Port Macquarie, Kew and Wauchope. Single Stableford. Green fees $15.

I have received an invitation to Wauchope Vets to  play in the Kew Open Day, Mens Veteran Golf Annual Open Day, on Monday 27th April. The sheet will be on the noticeboard and front table on Tuesday if you are interested. Noms close 14/4. $25 includes lunch and hotdog halfway around. Prize money approx.. $900. They always put on a good day.

At present there are 74 starters made up of both Forster/Tuncurry and Wauchope players. If you would like a game, book in through the online Timesheets. It should be a great day, Forster/Tuncurry have about 38 starters and are travelling up by bus.

Now that the Fixture Book has been launched and is available, I have attached the following sections to this email, Wauchope Men’s Golf Club Preamble, Wauchope Men’s Veterans Golf Club Preamble and Vets Telephone numbers. Save these attachments to your computer, you probably don’t require a paper copy. By doing it this way will save you (wait for it!) $2. Tell me what you think of this method. Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 08.03

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 10th March, is a Single Stableford event, sponsored by Hastings Funeral Services. Looking at the timesheet there are 4 vacancies on the booking sheet. If  you want a game get in quick. The course has recovered remarkably since the wet weather we had a couple of weeks ago, thank you to the Greenstaff for doing such a good job.

Coming up, on Friday 20th March, Wauchope Vets are hosting Forster Tuncurry Vets. The reason, we are conducting this game on a Friday is to cause as little interference as possible to our Tuesday game. Forster/Tuncurry are travelling up by bus and we can expect 30-40 players. Because of some confusion (not with the Vets) they have asked us if we could hit-off about 8:30am. At this moment there is only 25 Wauchope members on the Timesheet. I would like to see another 25-30 players from Wauchope. This game was organised prior to the recent price increase to competition fees, so it is only $16. If we get the numbers it will be 3 grades, nearest the pins etc.
THE TIMESHEET IS NOW OPEN ON THE COMPUTER, Rally your mates.

Last Friday at the Bill Medley Shield at Kew, 25 Wauchope Vets travelled down and played. Thank you for your attendance, there were a few new faces (who don’t normally travel) played. While the weather was great, the general course great, the greens have a problem at this time. As far as the Bill Medley Team is concerned, we performed very well. Dennis really had the right formula working. Wauchope are now running second, behind Frederickton. Here are the Results, Frederickton scored 219 points for total of 472 points, Wauchope scored 228 for total of 451 points, Kew scored 235 points for total of  448 points, Port Macquarie scored 216 for total of 446 points, S.W.Rocks scored 203 points for total of 439 points, Crescent Head scored 183 points for total total of 406 points, Kempsey scored 170 points for total of 374 points. Individuals who scored well were Kerry Galloway, John Hill, Quenton Henry, Norm Marchant, John Jokantas, Dennis Hughes and Bob Maggs all won balls, Rob Cannon won nearest the pin on the 9th Hole and received 2 Balls

It is our turn to host the next round of the Bill Medley it is on Friday 17th April and is an 8:30am Shotgun start, fees are $15 for this game as it is for all Bill Medley Shield games. You are welcome to play on this day, the team of 10 will be selected from those names on the entry sheet, please join in, you could be the one which makes the BIG difference. The  entry sheet will be available from Tuesday until it closes on 7th April. It is a good team competition atmosphere, if you are in the team or not.

These next two games are part of the Travellers Trophy 2015, where we have nominated 13 games which are either games away from Wauchope or Friday games at Wauchope, you would need to play 9 of the 13 games, then the best average over those 9 games wins $60 voucher, runner-up $40 voucher. Just as a bit of incentive to play these games. (attached is the running result sheet)

The fixture Books should be ready on Tuesday for $2 each from the front table.

Competition fees have increased to $20, which I believe will start with the Vets on Tuesday. This is a Board decision not a Vets Committee decision.

Thank you to those members who attended Michael Grant’s Funeral on Wednesday, it was a fitting farewell.

I think that is about it for this week.

Good Golfing

Ross
