Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers
Next Tuesday 19th January is the first Bi-Monthly
Medal for the year, so that means a Single Stroke event, plus Putting
Competition sponsored by Al Muller and Bill Wagner and Eclectic Round 2
sponsored by Dennis Hughes and John Uncle. Looking at the timesheet there is
only one vacancy.
Could I mention to members the new arrangement with the Club
we no longer receive a subsidy from the Club, but we now receive $1 extra per
player from the Green Fees. This can be advantageous to us, on the other hand,
detrimental, if numbers are up and managed we will do better, if days are
rained out or carts not allowed or members leave it to the last minute to pull
out or don’t pull out at all, leaving no option for other players to take
their place we will lose money. An example is over 50 week/games 5 players
leave pulling out until the last minute or not pulling out it will cost at
least $250.00 over the year in subsidies. Please think of the Club, when you
are not able to play but your name is still there, you could be giving someone else
a chance to play and for our Club to prosper.
The holiday period is over, the emails are streaming in and
events happening.
Crescent Head Bill Medley Shield is on Tuesday 16th
February, I have a list of about 17 players for that day, normally restricted
to 10 players per Club, I have agreement with Crescent Head they will try to
accommodate us, carts maybe an issue as they only have 6 Hire Carts (if you are
wanting a cart ring CHCC on 6566 0268) tell them if you would like to play
early as they are able to move a few players early. Please if you are able to
take your own cart up, please do. List will be on the front table on Tuesday.

There was talk in the Club last Tuesday about Bonville
events being played by Mid Nth Coast Vets, while I encourage Vets to travel and
experience other courses, I am also mindful the Bonville events are on
Tuesdays, hence I don’t like promoting events which will take players away from
our competition (Crescent Head exempted). Here is the message I received for
Mid Nth Coast Vets’ John Plummer.
“Bonville’s dates are 16 February, 5 April, 14 June, and, 9
August.Of course you and your Vets are welcome. However, as Bonville give us eighty spots I must look after our members first. Usually we have spots available though. So give me your names and Golf Link numbers early and, hopefully, I can confirm your bookings about the week before game days. The cost is about $60.00 which includes a cart. This rate is about half price and the best deal in town.”
I will add the first date coincides with Crescent Head, so would discourage visits on that day. It is not a shotgun start at Bonville so the suitability of taking a bus is reduced.
