Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 23.08

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 25th August is a Single Stableford, sponsored by John Patrick Prestige Cars. Looking at the Start sheet, which I cannot do because there is a problem with the server at the Club. I will ask Dennis H to place the usual names down if the server is not up by Tuesday morning.

Tomorrow, (Tues.24th Aug) there are 30 players travelling to Kew Golf Club for the 1st Round of the Wal Sneddon Shield, thank you for the response, we need the top 20 scores from each club. Good luck and good golfing to all those players.

The Week of Golf is the 3rd and 4th September, it is 2 shotgun starts each day 1 at 7:00am and the other at 12:00pm, John Uncle will be available on Tuesday to take your nominations and cash if you wish to play. What we do need are volunteers, these are required for spotting to assist with the speed of play, also card distribution and collection etc. Peter Abell is collecting names of volunteers. There are a lot of visitors who play in the WOG, so it is important we conduct an event which is first class. There is a presentation dinner on Friday night 4th Sept.

Tuesday 8th September is the Men’s Vets AGM. The day will start with an 8:00am Shotgun Start,  2 Man Ambrose, then the AGM and then lunch and maybe a drink. The Committee nomination sheet is on the noticeboard and we will bring it down to the main table on Tuesday. We need people to join the committee, inject some new ideas, promote an activity which is appreciated by all our members, help organise functions, tournaments etc. If everybody does a little bit and injects a few new ideas the Club will progress, keep up with the times, assist people to get out of home and play golf etc. It is rewarding. Our meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month after the presentation and go for about an hour. There are not only golf functions to be performed, but Social, Welfare, obtaining sponsors, raffles, as well as all the golfing functions if you like that side of it. Please give it some thought.

The Frederickton leg of the Bill Medley Shield is on Wednesday 16th September. Nominations close on the 28th August which is next Friday, at present there are 17 starters on the sheet, it would be good

to get a few more. Remember we are equal first with Port Macquarie at the present moment and Fredo are coming third, 36 points behind Port and Wauchope. It is Fredo’s home course so we can expect them to do well and probably catch up a few points, Wauchope need to keep leading this Shield, put your name down, you will enjoy the course and you will give Dennis more options, when he selecting the team.

Last week I said we were going to Taree Golf Club on Monday 28th Sept. it should have been Friday 25th Sept. which is not far away. Rod Millican has put a sheet out for nominations. We will talk more about this day later.

Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 09.08

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 11th August, is a Single Stableford event, Bob Woodlands Memorial Day. At present there are about 14  vacancies so if you are looking for a game get in.

On Monday there are about 30 players going to Port Macquarie to play in the Bill Medley Shield. It is an important game to us as we have hit the front of the field. I wish all our players the best of luck especially if they are selected in the team. I also wish Dennis H luck in his selections, he has been pondering over the selections for over a week. Remember if you do not wish to know if you are in the Team, email back to me and I will ensure you don’t, (that way there is no pressure). I will send an email to all PM participants after this email.

The nomination sheet is available for the Wal Sneddon Shield at Kew on Monday 24th  August, I expect it will be a 2 Tee start, integrated into Kew’s weekly event. As soon as I get more info I will let you know. If you require a cart please call the Pro Shop 6559 4596. This event is very close in time, I need a lot more names for us to even be competitive. The Wal Sneddon Shield is based on the top 20 scores from Kew and Wauchope so we need at least 20, hopefully 30. We hold the Shield after winning it last year 1454 to 1412 points last year.

The AGM and BBQ will be held on Tuesday September 8th, the nomination sheet should be on the board now, please give some thought about joining the committee.

After the PM, BMS, the next BMS is at Frederickton on Wednesday 16th September, if you haven’t played Royal Fredo, it is a pleasant experience, being a 9 hole course it is well groomed, actually surprisingly so. Put a little note in your calendar!

The Week of Golf (WOG) is not far away, in the preparation, volunteers are canvassed for their services over the 2 days. The WOG  is to be held on Thursday 3rd September and Friday 4th September.

Peter Abell will be asking for volunteers, the duties which need to be filled are Organising Tea & Coffee each Day, Registration on Wednesday afternoon, Card Distribution AM and PM each day, Spotters, 2nd, 4th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 15th, 18th Holes, Card Collection, Leaderboard entries. You may be able to help us out on one, two or both days, we welcome your enquiry.

If you are wanting to play in the WOG please see John Uncle he is taking entries from our Club

Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 02.08

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 4th August (yes, August already!) is a Single Stableford, Presidents Day. Looking at the booking sheet there are 7 vacant spots, get in if you are looking for a game.

Tomorrow Monday 3rd August  is the Bus trip to Tuncurry. Tuncurry have donated the Curry-Hope Shield, it is the 10 best scores by each club, but will be played for at Tuncurry only this year. We have 26 players travelling down. Good Luck to all players, if this weather keeps up it will be a great day.

Monday 10th August is the Bill Medley at Port Macquarie, I sent 32 names over last Wednesday but haven’t heard back about Tees etc. Dennis will be busy selecting the team, given 32 players he has plenty to select from, but it also creates a lot of analytic concentration. Good luck, Dennis.

On Monday 24th August, Wauchope Vets will be visiting Kew for the 1st leg of the Wal Sneddon Shield, the nomination sheet for this event has not been posted yet, but if you are interested in going we will start a list on Tuesday, it is always a good day at Kew.

We are getting close to 2 important events for Wauchope Vets, 1 is the Week of Golf played over 2 days on Thursday 3rd September and Friday 4th September, the sheets will be open to our members very soon.

The AGM is on Tuesday 8th September, Iam not sure who is renominating for positions on the Committee, but we always welcome new blood in. If someone would like to nominate for the Captains position, please do, you won’t be hurting my feelings or join the committee with that endeavour next year.

I don’t have the Thursday 9 Hole scores, so I will have to give it a miss this week

Good Golfing!

Ross
