Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 14.12

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 16th December is a Single Stableford, sponsored by the British Lolly Shop, Shop 6, Garrison Building, Hay Street Port Macquarie. There are no vacancies at present, but if you are looking for a game, people start pulling out Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

Online Timesheets, I said you would be able to sleep in on Tuesday 16th December as no timesheets would be open, I was wrong, Time sheets for 6th January will open on Tuesday 16th December at  7:00am, timesheets for 13th January will open at 7:00am on 23rd December.

Thank you for supporting the change of constitution and the Membership Management Plan. We will work on having those processes in place for next year.

I need to talk about the proposals put to the meeting on Tuesday regarding the change to policy, was, if you play 20 games in the year you receive a ham, the new proposal which has been passed by the committee, is you must play 60% of available games to receive a ham.

Whilst I did point out the cost of Tuesday Hams, meal, drinks in excess of $9000, I was by no means crying poor on behalf of our Club. The real point in this debate is rewarding players who support us all year. The fields are quite full at this time of year, we would like to encourage players out in other parts of the year when we have  20 – 30 vacancies. Filling those vacancies will more than pay for additional hams (if required). Ideally the Club has a timesheet which is 90% + filled at every game. There is no need to increase any fees, there is only a need to fill the timesheets each week. It is about encouraging more members out to the Wauchope Golf Course to play golf with us every Tuesday, if we accomplish that, we give out 171 hams they are more than paid for through your weekly games, more players more money, no waste of resources. I hope this clears the debate up. As the meeting had been closed, the session regarding the distribution of hams was supposed to be an information session, as the committee had discussed and resolved to change to 60% of available games at the monthly meeting 2nd December 2014.

Hams Day went well, there was no hams left over, I have cut mine and it is beautiful, enjoy! Thank you to all the people who helped through the day, Graham Ferguson and Mal Potter didn’t play golf, they set the room up and organised the tables. To all the other members who served the salads and meat patties and the members who helped in the distribution of the hams, Thank you very much!!!!!

Christmas Lunch was held of Friday  12th December, 31 people attended, everybody seemed to have a good time by the chatter that was happening later in the afternoon. Thank you to those people who attended. I would be interested in suggestions from members for a method of lifting the profile of this event. The numbers have been diminishing in the last couple of years, what can we do to get you back?

Other than our weekly games, nothing happening much until Tuesday 17th February the Bill Medley Shield at Crescent Head the start of the 2015 season, and we have a visit from Harrington on Tuesday 24th February.

Thursday 9 hole Competition was cancelled because of wet weather, hence no results.

That’s about it for now.

Good Golfing

Regards
Ross
