Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers
Next Tuesday 8th December is Hams or Hamper Day, if you have
played over 60% of available games in 2015, you should already have or a proxy
has your Ham Ticket, you will receive Half a Ham. The event on Tuesday is a
Best 2 of 4 Stableford with an 8:00am shot gun Start. I have purposely made it
a Best 2 of 4 Stableford event to enable faster play. YOU ARE ONLY GOING TO BE
FASTER BY PICKING YOUR BALL UP IF YOU CANNOT BETTER THE OTHER
SCORES IN YOUR TEAM. Lunch is scheduled for 12:30pm so we need a 12:30pm finish,
that is a round of 4 hours 30 minutes which should be quite easy, keep your
group moving.
Order for the day will be, all the action will be in the
Auditorium downstairs, there is no reason to go upstairs, when you come in and
submit your card, you will be given Beer Tickets for your group, lunch should
be ready or close to ready, lunch will be before the Presentation, after
presentation the Ham raffle will be drawn and then the distribution of Hams, I
will call names from the start sheet and those people called out should go and
collect their Ham. We have 140 Hams ($5000 worth) to distribute so it needs to
be done in an orderly fashion. Thank you to all the Committee and non Committee
members helping out on this special day, Thank you.
TIMESHEETS:- Dennis Hughes sent this message yesterday, I
will not rewrite it just copy it to you.
“Names for 22nd Dec are already in and computer will open
for Tablet and Internet at 6am on Tuesday for 22nd
Note that the computer will open on 15th December for 5th Jan
2016. (3 Weeks ahead) (No game on 29th Dec)
It will open on 22nd December for 12th January 2016 (3 weeks
ahead)
This will also apply to the Thursday games
Opens 17th Dec for 7th Jan and opens 24th Dec for 14th
Jan..Yes there is a game on 24th December..(Not in the book)”
He also asked me to mention “On another note there have been
people in carts leaving the path to the left of 11th green (some of them Vets)
and driving up past the sand trap and also across the front of the 11th green
when leaving the 12th tee. They have bent the stakes aside and also I noticed
today that one of the star pegs is actually recently broken. This practice is
to cease immediately. To access 12th tee drive to the right of the dam and up
through the trees to the tee then walk to 11th green. Return the same way.”
Out of concern, I wrote a letter to Caleb Rose, General
Manager, and also to the Board regarding the meals served to the Vets on
Tuesdays. I pointed out the lack of variety and sometimes the meals run out
early. Caleb emailed me this message “Can you please draw to your member’s
attention the fact that our new menu also offers a number of choices for under
$10 with your member’s discount, as well as open toasted sandwiches for
$6.30. In part this menu is intended to replace the $7 meals which are at
best a break even proposition for the club and not sustainable for the long
term, particularly if we continue to offer multiple choices as this generates
significant wastage and therefore further cost.” The fact the new menu is
intended to replace the Bain-Marie meals, makes sense. I suggested that maybe
the meal price needs to be increased from $7 to $9 with the proviso the meals
are value for money and there is variety, Caleb replied “The suggestion of
raising the cost to $9 would improve the club’s margin on the meals and we will
give this due consideration, however it would be preferable to promote the new
menu choices along with only one or two “wet dish” specials each week.
I’d be very happy to talk through this with you and also to speak at your
presentation about the changes if that would be useful?” I have included the
lunch Menu below, when you apply your 10% discount to these meals, I feel you
will be getting value for money. These meals will need to be ordered and they
will be delivered to your table. I have also attached the full menu, if you a
planning a more formal Lunch or Dinner. I am happy with the reply,
members now have a choice, if not fussed with the “wet dishes” they have the
option to order other meals that are only marginally dearer, but should satisfy
the appetite.
