Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 30.11

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday is the first match with the Early Hit-Off. (Check your times)

Tuesday 2nd December is a Single Stableford sponsored by Fredo’s Meats. Fredo’s are a great sponsor as they support us numerous times through the year. The time sheet is full at this stage, our experience is, there will probably be about 7 to 9 dropouts on Monday night /Tuesday morning so if you are looking for a game the best bet might be to talk to Clark in the Pro shop and leave your name with him.

On Tuesday we will be giving out envelopes to the members who are eligible to receive a ham on the 9th December. You will need to present that envelope to receive your ham, if you will be away on the 9th you need to write proxy details on the envelope ie. Name of person taking the ham on your behalf, and ensure that person has the envelope to present.

Hams Day on 9th December, drink and meal tickets will be issued to eligible players, remember no visitors on that day, prior to serving lunch we will have a meeting regarding the voting  for the proposed Member Management Plan and the change of Constitution, after that, lunch, then the distribution of hams.

Don’t forget Christmas Lunch on Friday 12th December in the Verandah Room, numbers are down at present but the Club ensures us we will be satisfied with the Meals they serve us. It is $25 ahead, your partner is more than welcome. See Rod Millican or Peter Abell.

Looking to the future, we play each Tuesday up to and including 23rd December, there is no Vets golf on the 30th December we resume again on 6th January 2015, other than our weekly games, nothing happening much until Tuesday 17th February the Bill Medley Shield at Crescent Head the start of the 2015 season, and we have a visit from Harrington on Tuesday 24th February.

Also on Hams Day we are looking to put a motion to the members which will change the constitution slightly to allow for the proposed Membership Management Plan to be put in place. I have attached the constitution change document, it is also on the Noticeboard in the Club. Hams Day, tickets will be given to all players who have qualified for a ham on Tuesday 2nd December. It will be in the form of an envelope with Ham Ticket. If you are unable to play or attend on Tuesday 9th December, proxy information may be written on the back of the envelope and the envelope presented with Ham ticket inside by the nominated proxy on the day. The sheet with the number of games players have played is on the Notice Board in the Club.

The club took a Bus to Nambucca Heads last Friday, it was a full bus, and others travelled by car. There were 33 players all together, although the wind blew strong and consistent all day and we got in before the thunderstorm. It brought the best out in the wind players, the event was won by Peter Abell with 38 points congratulations Pete!, he received a Nambucca Shirt donated by the Pro Steve, Runner-up was Bob Harmer with 36 points c/b from Mike Luschwitz also with 36 points. Highlight of the day was Ian Bain had a HOLE IN ONE on the 5th Hole, congratulations Ian. He didn’t see it go into the hole, but nearly everybody knew about it by the noise of his playing partners. The ball rundown went to 15 points, which means everybody got a ball. Thank you Allan Brooke for driving the bus! It was a good away Club event, I have booked us in again at Nambucca for Friday 13th November 2015 (just for those suspicious people).

The Zone 12 Championships were held at South West Rocks on Friday, they also had their share of the wind.  Wauchope only had 2 players, Rod Millican and Bob Maggs. Rod reports, Overall Gross Winner is Greg Christie with 83, Overall Nett Winner is Kevin Hill with 63. Rod Millican won the A Grade Straight Drive and had a nett 77 and Bob Maggs had a nett 76. Thank you for representing Wauchope. Next year we will be looking to increase the amount of representatives from Wauchope also put in a bid to hold the Zone Championships at Wauchope in 2016.

Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 16.11

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 18th November is a Single Stableford event sponsored by ANZ Bank. The timesheet has 4 vacancies at present, so as I say. Get in now if you are looking for a game.

As  a trial in December start times are going to be 30 minutes earlier than now, first hit-off is 7:29am with last hit-off at 9:30am. The first day this will come into effect is 2 weeks time 2nd December. There have been many requests to start earlier in summer, with the temperatures starting to soar, the earlier in the day golfers can be off the course the better. Dennis Hughes has looked at the times to open the online bookings and feels that 7:00am is adequate, but if that shows a problem we will look at changing it.

So what does this mean to you? When you go into to book on Tuesday for 2nd December times will be 30 minutes earlier. If successful, it will continue until late Feb/March.

Two events are happening on Friday 21st November, Bus trip to Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club and Zone 12 Vets Championships at South West Rocks.

The trip to Nambucca has 37 starters and 21 on the bus counting Allan Brooke our reliable driver. Thank you Allan for hiring and driving and looking after the passengers.

Those travelling by bus need to confirm times on Tuesday, those travelling by car need to arrive in time for a 9:00am shotgun start.

There are four players participating in the Zone Championships,  it is a shotgun start at 9:00am with registration from 7:00am. Good Luck to our players.

These events hopefully will not clash next year, the Nambucca Trip will be on the 13th November and the Zone Championships on 20th November. That might mean we have better representation in the Zone Championships.

Hams Day is on the 9th December, tickets will be given to all players who have qualified for a ham on Tuesday 2nd December. It will be in the form of an envelope with Ham Ticket, Meal Ticket and Drink Ticket included. If you are unable to play or attend on Tuesday 9th December, proxy information may be written on the back of the envelope and the envelope presented by the nominated proxy on the day. The sheet with the number of games players have played is on the Notice Board in the Club.

Christmas Lunch Friday 12th December, 12:00 for 12:30pm, you and your partner are invited

Christmas Lunch has been renegotiated, for $25 per head this is what is on offer. Platters of Antipasto, Mains, Mixed Plate of Ham, Chicken and Roast Beef with garden salad and Potato Salad or Chicken Ceaser Salad, Crisp Cos Lettuce, Bacon, Shaved Parmesan Cheese, Croutons and Egg with Chicken Tenderloins and a creamy Ceaser Dressing.

Drink on arrival and carafes of wine on tables. This will be served in the Verandah Room with a lovely outlook across the course. Get a table together of your playing partners or other players and have a great afternoon. See Rod Millican for bookings.

13 players travelled to Kew Country Club on Monday for the “Mens Cancer Research Day” put on by the Vets . It was a good day, our successful golfers winning a ball were Ken Lane with 40 points, Doug Connell and Dennis Hughes with 38 points, Norm Marchant won Nearest the pin on the 12th Hole. There were plenty of raffles going to collect money for the cause.

Thursday 13th November 2014,  9 Hole Results

Next Tuesday 11th November is a Single Stableford event sponsored by Wauchope Men’s Golf Club, there are 7 spots available at present. The Nambucca Heads Bus Trip (21/11) is popular, there are 35 starters at present with about 20 on the bus, 15 players travelling up by car. You can still be accommodated, but only if travelling by car. See Rod Millican he has the entry sheet.

On the same day (21/11) the Zone 12 Men’s Veterans Championships are on at South West Rocks. Three members have entered.

Have you qualified for a Ham on Ham’s Day? The sheet is on the notice board showing the state of play to date.

The Christmas Lunch on Friday 12th December is being renegotiated and Iam assured we will do better than already advertised, I should be able to bring you up to date with the new arrangements next week

Wauchope Men's Vets weekly update 02.11

Wauchope Men’s Veteran Golfers

Next Tuesday 4th November the event  is changed from a Par Bisque to a 2Ball Stableford Multiplier. The reason for this is twofold, firstly confusion was reigning with how to score the Par Bisque and secondly the greens are still not at their best after renovations. Iam not sure of spots available at present. It is also Melbourne Cup day.

Hams Day is coming up on 9th December, there is a list of members on the notice board with the number of games played this year, you must have played in at least 20 Tuesday Vets games this year to be eligible to be awarded a ham. Hams day is a Members only day.

At present there are 33 people booked to go to Nambucca on 21st November, about 18 booked on the Bus, there are still spots available both playing and on the Bus
